PLANNING RESPONSIBILTY

In early 2013, a legislative amendment to change the South Bank Corporation Act 1989 (the Act) was passed in Queensland State Parliament that made Brisbane City Council responsible for administering development and signage approvals within the South Bank precinct.

The Approved Development Plan (ADP), which is the statutory planning instrument, governs development throughout the South Bank precinct. Responsibility for changes to the ADP remained with the Queensland Government acting on the advice of South Bank Corporation.

In August 2023, the role and responsibilities of South Bank Corporation were reinstated as the unified integrated precinct manager of South Bank.
