South Bank Corporation unites with Queensland Trust for Nature to create a greener South Bank

1 September 2023

South Bank Corporation (the Corporation) today announced a one-year partnership with Queensland Trust for Nature (QTFN) to enhance biodiversity across the 42-hectare South Bank precinct.

Aligned with its Corporate Environmental Sustainability Strategy, the Corporation will collaborate with QTFN’s specialist team to advance its efforts in greening the precinct, increasing native biodiversity and regenerating South Bank’s unique ecosystem.

Through this partnership, the Corporation and QTFN aim to connect locals and visitors with nature, sharing knowledge and insights about the diverse flora and fauna in the precinct.

South Bank Corporation CEO, Bill Delves said he was proud to be partnering with QTFN and their shared vision of creating a greener South Bank.

"We have ambitious targets to green the precinct and increase biodiversity, and effective collaborations are key to our success.

We welcome the knowledge and specialist skillset that QTFN will bring to the Corporation as we advance our position as a leader in sustainability,” Mr Delves said.

Queensland Trust for Nature CEO, Dr. Liz O'Brien, emphasised the power of collaboration and the positive impact it will have on enhancing South Bank’s environment.

"Through this partnership, we will be providing and supporting opportunities for locals and visitors to appreciate and learn about the incredible flora and fauna in South Bank.

“Together, we can create a healthier and more liveable urban environment for current and future generations," Dr O’Brien said.

This partnership commences on the first day of Biodiversity Month in Australia and highlights the importance of connecting with and caring for South Bank’s biodiversity.

A series of biodiversity educational videos and initiatives will be available to the community over the coming months, providing opportunities to immerse themselves in nature and deepen their understanding of South Bank’s diverse flora and fauna.
